How many ‘xc’ jumps are there?

There are currently more than 100 Cross Country (xc) jumps spread throughout more than 8 Kilometers (5 Miles) of Sand/fibre Tracks. There are also drops, drains/trenches, water complexes & banks.

Do you supply horses for use?

We hate to say No to anything, but unfortunately we don’t supply Horses, we are a ‘bring your own Horse’ facility. Our premises is where Horses come to have fun!

Is there a place we can leave our horses while we are eating or riding other horses.

Yes, here at The Field Equestrian Centre PMC we rent out stables for Only €5 so you can leave your horse to relax while you are doing other activities, enjoying a picnic or merely having a break.

NOTE:- There are standing stalls which are FREE to use, but it is our experience that many Horses have managed to injure themselves in the Standing Stalls as they want to mix with the other horses in your party, and other horses in general. So the use of our Standing Stalls while it is FREE is entirely at your own Risk!

This is the only reason we provide a State of the Art Stable for your peace of mind for Only €5. It costs us more than the €5 to provide this service to you, but we do our best to be fair when we can!

How many KM’s / miles of Cross Country ("xc") track is available to use at FEC PMC?

We currently have in excess of 8 Kilometers (5 miles) fully sanded with Wexford Beach Sand with added fibre Cross Country (“xc”) tracks to use.

Not to be outdone! We also have 1000’s of meters of Water Trenches, drains, drops and banks. Rest assured there are Not too many Riders fit to complete the entirety of our facilities in the one day!

In fact we have regular visitors from Wales, Scotland and England and Europe who come over, book their Horses into our Stables “B&B” for the 1 or 2 weeks of their Holidays where they will stay in the local 4* Midlands Park Hotel in the Centre of Portlaoise town, spend 1, 2 or 3 days riding at our facility, then head off around the Country for a few days leaving their Horses here, where they are looked after by our incredible staff, and then return for the final days of their trip where they ride for another 1, 2 or 3 days depending upon stamina amongst other things!

Are your arena poles wooden or plastic?

The majority of our Arena poles are wooden, as a lot of our members who are competing prefer/require wooden poles. Wherefore our Arena 3 which is a full size Championship Arena is exclusively Wooden poles, where we also have the famous “puissance wall” which can be built to 2.47 Meters and above if you fancy breaking the Record for such a Wall/Jump!! So we have the full championship vibe going on in Arena 3!

In saying that we have plenty of members who have green horses or who are just starting out, and some of these members like/prefer plastic poles. Wherefore we have a “healthy” mix of wooden and plastic poles in Arena 1 and Arena 2. Slightly more wooden than plastic. We are aware of the great Wooden -v- Plastic debate, where we prefer to cater for everyone’s needs rather than get involved in the debate.

Oh, and just in case you might not know, we have a Dressage Arena also. (Just in case your an eventer!)

Do you have xc jumps of all different sizes?

Yes all our xc courses have various different size jumps ranging from 50cm to 1+ metre.

You will Not be short of Jumps regardless of your ability at our facility!

Is the use of the forest and local lake included in the price for xc?

YES! Most certainly, once you pay for “xc” you have the exclusive use of our forestry, various “xc” courses, and our local lake.

There simply is No better facility and or value anywhere!

If I pay to use an arena can I go into the "xc" just to jump a few jumps?

We hate the word NO here at FEC PMC.

BUT….. the honest answer to this FAQ is and has to be NO!

We have serious overheads here at FEC PMC. We simply cannot offer the standards and quality which we hold dear here at FEC PMC without considerable expense to us. So in the best interests of health and safety, and fairness to Everyone.

If you pay for arena use only, then in All fairness you ought to ride only in the arena which you have chosen. (There is a simple and extremely cheap option to combine both “Arena” and “xc” for ONLY €5 extra!) It’s a No-brainer really!

Likewise, If you pay for “xc” use only, then in All fairness you ought to ride only in the “xc” which you have chosen. (There is a simple and extremely cheap option to combine both “xc” and “Arena” for ONLY €5 extra!) Again it’s a No-brainer really!

You might ask “Why don’t you just charge €30 to everyone and be done with it?”

It’s NEVER that simple!  We have professionals who regularly use our facilities to school Horses exclusively on our “xc” tracks -or- exclusively in our State of the Art Show Jumping Arena’s. It would be extremely unfair on these professionals or any other Member for that matter, to charge for Both “xc” and Arenas when/if both are Not required.

In the interests of fairness to ALL our Members and ourselves we have a minimum price for use of our “xc” Tracks, and or for use of our Show Jumping Arenas. This price is currently €25 for each. The Costs of maintaining these incredible “xc” and “Show Jumping” facilities is huge, and in the current environment increasing on a weekly basis. Where €25 for use of either is incredibly fair and reasonable.

BUT… In the further interests of fairness to ALL our Members who simply want a bit of both, we are More than happy to facilitate this for a combined price of €30. We cannot be fairer than that.

Regardless of the Fact that we try to be fair to ALL our members, we have some Members who try to abuse our policy of fairness to ALL members by booking in for either “xc” or “Show Jumping” and then using both, which is extremely unfair to us, as we have to maintain both, and keep our standards high, and likewise extremely unfair to other Members who happily pay their €30 for combined use of All facilities.

As a consequence of some of our members attempts to Evade this “extra” €5 payment for use of BOTH facilities. We are left with NO alternative but to operate a ZERO tolerance policy in relation to Members who seek to Evade our reasonable charge for combined use.

Members who are caught using both “xc” and “Show Jumping” while only paying for ONE of these options, as a direct consequence of their actions, risk their membership being cancelled. It is our belief that Honesty is the best policy, and we sincerely thank the majority of our members for their Honesty.

What are the different standard and premium memberships you have available?

We have multiple standard and or premium memberships available. They are as follows :-

No. This is DIY Livery, we do not provide shavings / bedding for your horse. You must bring or order your own to be delivered, and used by you.

Once I have signed up for the €2 Standard membership does that mean I get to ride at the discounted rate?

We are afraid that the straight answer is No, a standard €2 membership is to allow you to ride at our premises as a member (Standard Member) at the full rate of €25 for “xc” and or €25 for “Show Jumping Arena’s” or €30 combined.

You would need a FULL Premium membership (€60) to ride at the discounted price of €12.50 for “xc” and or €12.50 for “Show Jumping Arena’s” or €20 combined..

Do you supply shampoos/washes for our horses at the wash bay?

With the greatest of respect, No. We don’t supply you with shampoos/washes etc.. for your horse. As every Horse owner has their own preference for brands/quality etc. and likewise every Horse may have specific requirements in relation to its skin etc. Wherefore we  would respectfully suggest you bring your own cleaning agents to use on/for your Horse..

Do you accept any other forms of payment other than cash?

YES! We do NOT exclusively require a Cash payment like other facilities. While we do accept cash, we also accept All forms of electronic payments such as Credit and Debit cards, Bank Transfer, Revolut, and PayPal etc.
